Photography Matters, or so I like to think. Otherwise I wouldn't be here. Then again, neither would you, because I'm assuming, you believe photography matters also. That means you and I have at least one thing in common. So right from the start I can say "photography really does matter", if only to you and me.
In reality, I believe photography matters to a lot more people than just us. That in part is what I want to explore here. Why does it matter and to who. Does it all matter the same or do we all see what matters to us differently to what matters to others? If you ask me I'll tell you "most certainly". We all see the world differently, smell it, taste it, feel it and enjoy it in our own individual way. Who knows, maybe even the colours we see and love are actually translated by our brains differently. If a scientist plugged a monitor into your brain and mine, would it reproduce my colour red as your colour red? Maybe my blue looks more like your version of green or purple. I'm sure that is something I'll explore later.
But for now my point is that we all bring a different interpretation to the art and craft of photography. And I think that matters, a lot. Over the coming months or more I intend exploring all those wonderful corners of the photography world, be it the images, the artists, the technology, the culture, the craft or just the mere fact that photography matters to one awfully big bunch of people the world over.
